Directions: Student will use the following websites to research about the candidates running for President of the United States of America.

Students will create a research paper about a candidate chosen by the teacher so they can get an overly different view portrayed by the media. Students will use the websites above to find their information and submit their work by 11/3 or 11/5, depending on the day they have the teacher. Each student will do the following:
Part I: Write a 125 word biography or more on one of the candidates chosen. You must explain the candidate’s early life, some accomplishments and current history.
Part II: You will research information on what the candidate’s thinks about the following issues and how they will make it better:
· Iraq
· Immigration
· Health Care
· Civil Rights
· Education
· Economy
Part III: Students then will write 6-8 sentence conclusion on what they think about this candidate, on what they learned about the candidate that they didn’t know before and if given the right to vote, who would they pick.
All work must be turned on the date it is due. All assignments will be handed out in class and a rubric will be posted on the teacher’s website.
Students need to watch for spelling, grammar and sentence structure. Students need to remember to indent each paragraph and use capital letters when needed.
Assignment is worth 300 points.

Technology Powerpoint: Barack Obama or John McCain - Who Do You Know is the Better Choice?
Many students don't know anything about the candidates. So in this assignment in technology, students will find information and put it in a powerpoint presentation.
Students will need to go to atomic learning website (see notes)to learn how to use powerpoint. Students will have to create a 10 slide powerpoint about Barack Obama and John McCain. Each slide will have 3 facts of information on the candidates. 5 slides are on each candidate. Each slide needs to have some animation on it.
On atomiclearning students using a a desktop must listen microsoft powerpoint 2007 intro and if you are using a laptop you must listen to microsoft powerpoint 2003-intro. You must have headphones to listen to all of the tutorials. Remember, you need to listen to all the tutorials because I will be giving you a test on some specific things on the tutorial, like adding sound, animation, video and pictures.

1st Quarter History Final Project - Mr. De Maria
Students from Mr. De Maria's class need to understand that before the United States became a country, there were other groups of people living in this land. They made an impact on this great land and they should not be forgotten. Though it is hard to learn about everything throughout history, we can learn about the little things.
We are a country of great peoples and cultures and that is what makes America Great. People forget and by you doing this assignment, you will learn who and what they did.
Directions: Students will complete an outline for the following chapters: Ch 1,2,3, & 4. Students will find 1 key fact for each heading and subheading. A key fact is something that explains the title, heading or subheading.
It must be written or typed (12pt font & times roman). You need to underline the chapter and title, section and title and each heading and subheading. A heading is highlighted in dark blue and a subheading is highlighted in dark red. You can add colors to your assignment if desired.

1. Early American Civilizations
• There were several Indian civilizations, Inca, Aztec Olmec and the Mayans.
All work must be turned in on time. This is a final 1st quarter grade worth 200 points. 50 points for each chapter. The following is a rubric on how it will be graded:
Heading: 25 points Chapter/Section/Headings and Subheadings Formatted: 75 points 1 Key fact for each heading and subheading: 100 points
All work will be posted on the board and on my website: www.koolteachingstuff.blogspot.com. If any questions ask me before class. Assignment is due on 10/17/2008-Day 1 or 10/20/2008 No Late work.
